Republic – group exhibition continues at Olivier Cornet Gallery until 31 August
It was a crowded opening of the exhibition at Olivier Cornet Gallery in July with a thought provoking speech by Eamon Ryan as the assembled considered the links between the artworks, the local context and the historical links and contemporary implications of the 1916 Rising. Not to mention the elephant in the room – the beautifully executed subtle painting installation by Eoin Mac Lochlainn on the walls of the gallery.
For me it was particularly poignant for my print of the Dead Horse – based on an event my grandmother had related to my mother and in turn to me – to be exhibited just up the street from the event and to have my Mam on hand at the opening of the exhibition to relay the story.
