Live Stream Nature Channel at Sculpture in Context 2015
Live Stream Nature Channel – collaboration with Claire Halpin and Madeleine Hellier at
Sculpture in Context 2015, National Botanic Gardens, Dublin opening Wednesday 2nd September.
Witness the beauty and drama of Autumn unfold from the comfort of your armchair with nature brought to your TV through Live Stream Nature Channel. Explore nature’s palette of colour as the leaves transition from green to brown in real time. Observe the great sycamore tree release its ripened female seeds as helicopters in one of nature’s greatest feats of colonisation. Notice the pond skaters as they glide with balletic grace and ease across the surface of the water in search of food. Discover the language of squirrels as they communicate with each other both vocally and using their tail as a signalling device.
In our world bombarded with speed, TV and media, Live Stream Nature Channel – an outdooor living room complete with armchairs, TV and standard lamp, recreates our own natural domestic habitat where nature programmes are usually constantly streamed. This sculptural installation invites visitors to take time out of their day to just sit, relax, observe and reflect on the drama of nature unfolding in the National Botanic Gardens through the framework of a TV in real time actuality.
